General Description: shrimp-like invertebrates; adults measure up to 2.5 inches in length and weigh up to 0.07 ounces

Habitat: Antarctic Ocean

Behavior: krill live in large schools, called swarms, reaching densities of 10,000–30,000 individuals per cubic meter

Diet: phytoplankton, small crustaceans

Reproduction: females lay 6,000–10,000 eggs at one time
